Pickleball Site decision postponed by Powell River Council

Councillors await decision on reconvening a committee to further examine the matter
Jan 1st, 2026: A decision on locating a pickleball facility in City of Powell River has been postponed until the potential reformation of a standing committee to look into the matter.
At the December 18 city council meeting, manager of city development Melissa Howey said council had directed staff to examine the potential sale or lease of the Timberlane property identified as a potential site for a pickleball facility. She said the property was granted to the city by the province in 1974 and is encumbered by a proviso restricting use for park purposes.
